Guidelines for Registering for Direct Admission, Priority Admission, and Bonus Points for Undergraduate Programs in 2026
In 2026, VNU University of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (hereinafter referred to as “VNU University of Law”) uses 04 admission methods for regular undergraduate admission with a total of 990 enrollment quotas for 03 majors/04 training programs, including: Law, High-Quality Law (Law major), Business Law (Economic Law major), and International Commercial Law (International Commercial Law major). This document provides detailed guidance for candidates on the 03 admission methods specified in Section 1.1 below (excluding: Admission based on the results of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination; Admission based on the results of the Competency Assessment Test (HSA) organized by Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU)) and on registration for bonus points (bonus points, merit-based points and incentive points).
1. ADMISSION METHODS, GENERAL PRINCIPLES, TIME, LOCATION, FEES AND APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
1.1. Admission methods

1.2. General principles
- Enrollment quotas are allocated by major and are not allocated by admission method; Candidates may register for multiple methods simultaneously if they meet the conditions of each method;
- Regulations on schedules, addresses, deadlines for submission of admission applications, preliminary selection and admission principles applicable to each category of candidates under each method are specifically provided in Part II of this document;
- All candidates (including candidates eligible for direct admission) must register for admission online on the Common Admission Support System of the Ministry of Education and Training (hereinafter referred to as the “System”) at http://thisinh.thitotnghiepthpt.edu.vn or the National Public Service Portal from July 2, 2026 to 17:00 on July 14, 2026;
- Candidates need to carefully study the Admission Regulations of VNU, the Admission Information of VNU University of Law, the Guidelines for Registration for Direct Admission, Priority Admission and Bonus Points, information on admission conditions, application documents, procedures, registration deadlines and application submission of VNU University of Law, and must not register preferences for majors or training programs for which they do not meet the eligibility requirements. Candidates shall submit applications and supporting documents online according to the University’s instructions, but must still register on the System to be considered for admission together with all other candidates;
- Candidates shall declare and provide complete information and ensure the accuracy and consistency of all information registered for admission to the University (for all methods for which the candidate registers); VNU University of Law shall use the candidate’s information declared on the System of the Ministry of Education and Training as the basis for verification and comparison in the admission process;
- Candidates’ admission preferences for VNU University of Law shall be registered by major and ranked from 1 to the last preference (preference 1 is the highest preference), and candidates must provide data (according to the criteria and conditions of each method specified in the Admission Information and this document) corresponding to the major for which the candidate has registered for admission for the University to use in the admission process;
- Candidates must confirm their enrollment online on the System of the Ministry of Education and Training before 17:00 on August 21, 2026.
1.3. Address/form of application submission
1.3.1. For candidates registering for admission under Method 1, Method 2 and registering for bonus points:
- Registration form: Online (candidates submit applications through the software).
- Candidates shall prepare a complete application dossier (according to the admission method or bonus point category and follow the instructions);
- Candidates shall register online on the software of VNU University of Law at http://tuyensinh.law.vnu.edu.vn/login
- Candidates shall save an image of the completed application submission (including proof of payment of the fee).
- Candidates shall carefully read the regulations on application documents for each admission method and bonus point category and submit complete applications as prescribed; the University shall not consider admission or award bonus points to candidates who submit incomplete applications.
1.3.2. For university preparatory students (Method 5): Candidates shall follow the instructions of the university preparatory school.
1.4. Application reception period and announcement of results
1.4.1. Application reception period
- For Method 1, Method 2 and registration for bonus points: Candidates shall submit applications from May 20, 2026 to 17:00 on June 15, 2026;
- For Method 5: Candidates’ applications shall be directly handed over by university preparatory schools to VNU University of Law before 17:00 on June 20, 2026.
- Foreign candidates: shall register for admission directly at VNU University of Law.
1.4.2. Announcement of results
- Time for announcement of direct admission and direct admission results: June 30, 2026.
Candidates may view the results of direct admission and priority admission (Method 2) at the website: http://law.vnu.edu.vn and check the results on the online admission software.
- Results of application review for Method 1 and registration for bonus points: The University shall respond no later than 10 days after the candidate completes the online application submission (candidates shall view the results on the software).
1.5. Admission fees
- Admission fee for Method 2 and Method 5: VND 30,000/preference.
- Application review fee for Method 1 and bonus points: VND 30,000/application.
Candidates shall make a bank transfer to account: 2600787760 at BIDV My Dinh Branch, transfer description: XT2026_CITIZEN ID NUMBER_NUMBER OF PREFERENCES/APPLICATIONS.
2. ADMISSION METHODS
2.1. Admission principles
a) Regulations on priority points (regional priority, priority for policy beneficiaries) shall be applied to all admission methods, ensuring consistency and uniformity in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and VNU;
b) Direct Admission and Priority Admission shall be implemented in accordance with the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and VNU;
c) Bonus points, including bonus points, merit-based points and incentive points (bonus points for Method 1, Method 4), shall be awarded to candidates who meet the requirements regarding bonus point application documents in accordance with the regulations of VNU and VNU University of Law;
d) Admission to the High-Quality Law training program: Candidates who are admitted and have confirmed enrollment in the Law training program (standard), whose English score in the High School Graduation Examination of the admission year is at least 5.0 points (on a 10-point scale) or whose overall average English score for 6 semesters of upper secondary education is at least 7.0 or who use equivalent converted international English certificates in accordance with the current Regulations on the High School Graduation Examination, may register for admission to the High-Quality Law training program if they meet one of the following criteria (in order of priority):
- Winning first, second or third prize in the national or international selection examination for excellent students;
- Winning first prize in the provincial/city-level examination for excellent students under the central government/upper-secondary-level examination for excellent students of VNU/VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competition;
- Winning second prize in the provincial/city-level examination for excellent students under the central government/upper-secondary-level examination for excellent students of VNU/VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competition;
- Winning third prize in the provincial/city-level examination for excellent students under the central government/upper-secondary-level examination for excellent students of VNU/VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competition;
- Having an international English certificate (IETLS, TOEFL iBT) at Level 4 (equivalent to B2) or higher and having a high total score in the 3-subject admission combination (the University shall announce the specific score level eligible for application later).
The University shall issue separate instructions and receive applications for admission after candidates are admitted and confirm their enrollment at the University.
2.2. Admission methods
2.2.1. Method 1 (Code 100): Combination of the results of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination with an international certificate (IELTS/TOEFL iBT) for admission
a) Eligible candidates
- Candidates with a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 72 or equivalent international English certificates.
- The foreign language test must cover all 4 skills. Online foreign language certificates shall not be accepted.
- The certificate examination date must be no more than 02 years prior to the deadline for registration/application submission.
b) Admission application documents
- Admission application form (2026-PT1);
- 01 portrait photo, size 4×6 (taken within approximately 06 months prior to application submission);
- Citizen Identity Card (both sides);
- IELTS or TOEFL iBT certificate.
c) Admission principles
The University shall convert English certificate scores in accordance with VNU regulations and combine them with the results of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination for admission: the conversion level for foreign language certificates shall be implemented according to the following table:

2.2.2. Method 2 (Code 301): Direct admission and priority admission in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training
2.2.2.1. Direct admission
a) Eligible candidates for direct admission
Candidates who win first, second or third prize in the national or international selection examination for excellent students in one of the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, History, Geography, English, or French organized by/participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training.
b) Conditions and principles for direct admission:
- The prize must have been awarded no more than 3 years prior to the time of direct admission;
- Admission shall be considered in descending order of achievement until the admission source is exhausted and according to the following order of priority: 1) Achievement in the international-level selection examination for excellent students; 2) Achievement in the national-level selection examination for excellent students;
- Candidates shall register for admission by training major.
c) Direct admission application documents
- Admission application form (2026-PT2-TT);
- 01 portrait photo, size 4×6 (taken within approximately 06 months prior to application submission);
- Certificate of achievement in the national or international selection examination for excellent students.
2.2.2.2. Priority admission
a) Candidates eligible for priority admission
Candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Winning first, second or third prize in an international-level Science and Engineering competition or first prize in a national-level Science and Engineering competition (Social and Behavioral Sciences group and the competition project is assessed by the Admission Council of VNU University of Law as appropriate for the registered major) organized by/participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training;
- Meeting the admission quality threshold of the training program.
b) Conditions and admission principles:
- The prize must have been awarded no more than 3 years prior to the time of direct admission;
- Admission shall be considered in descending order of achievement until the admission source is exhausted and according to the following order of priority: 1) Achievement in the international-level Science and Engineering competition; 2) Achievement in the national-level Science and Engineering competition;
- Candidates shall register for admission by training major.
c) Priority admission application documents
- Admission application form (2026-PT2-UTXT);
- 01 portrait photo, size 4×6 (taken within approximately 06 months prior to application submission);
- Certificate of achievement in the national or international Science and Engineering competition.
2.2.3. Method 5 (Code 500): Admission of candidates who are students of university preparatory schools
Implemented in accordance with Circular No. 44/2021/TT-BGDĐT dated December 31, 2021 of the Minister of Education and Training on University Preparatory Admission and Training; Transfer Admission to undergraduate level and college level in Early Childhood Education for university preparatory students.
a) Enrollment quotas for 2026:
The enrollment quota for candidates who are students of university preparatory schools is 18, specifically as follows:

b) Admission conditions:
Candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Have graduated from upper secondary school or equivalent;
- Have completed the university preparatory program;
- Academic performance at the upper secondary level must be at least Good; the overall average score in English at the upper secondary level must be at least 7.0 or the score in the English subject of the graduation examination must be at least 5.0 (on a 10-point scale);
- Meet the requirements regarding the admission quality threshold for the registered major (in 2025, the admission quality threshold for the majors of VNU University of Law was: 20 points; VNU University of Law shall consider the candidate’s highest-scoring combination);
- In addition, based on the Standards for undergraduate training programs in the field of Law issued under Decision No. 678/QĐ-BGDĐT dated March 14, 2025 of the Minister of Education and Training, candidates must also meet the following requirement: The score in Mathematics or Literature in the admission combination must be at least 06 points on a 10-point scale.
c) Admission principles:
- Admission shall be based on the candidate’s 2025 admission quality threshold;
- Preparatory schools shall send applications of candidates registering for admission to VNU University of Law in accordance with the number of allocated quotas and meeting the admission conditions prescribed above.
d) Admission application documents:
The students’ applications shall be handed over by university preparatory schools to VNU University of Law, including:
- University preparatory admission dossier of the student and evidence of meeting the 2025 admission quality threshold;
- Academic and conduct results of students who have completed university preparation;
- Document approving the results of transferring students who have completed university preparation to the training institution.
3. BONUS POINTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REGULATIONS OF VNU AND VNU UNIVERSITY OF LAW
3.1. Principles for awarding bonus points
Candidates who are eligible for bonus points and submit complete applications in accordance with regulations shall have bonus points added to their admission scores for Method 1 (Admission based on the results of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination; Combination of the results of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination with an international English certificate (IELTS, TOEFL iBT) for admission) and Method 4 (Admission based on the results of the Competency Assessment Test organized by VNU).
3.2. Candidates eligible for bonus points
3.2.1. Bonus points
Candidates eligible for direct admission under Section 2.2.2.1. (a), Part II, but who do not exercise their right to direct admission, shall be awarded bonus points as follows:
- First prize in the national or international excellent student competition organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training: 3.0 points;
- Second prize in the national or international excellent student competition organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training: 2.5 points;
- Third prize in the national or international excellent student competition organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training: 2.0 points.
The prize must have been awarded no more than 03 years prior to the time of admission.
3.2.2. Merit-based points
Candidates shall be awarded merit-based points in the following cases:
a) Candidates who win a consolation prize in one of the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, History, Geography, English, or French in the national or international selection examination for excellent students organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training: 5 points;
b) Candidates who meet the conditions for admission under VNU’s priority admission category under Section 2.2.2.2. (a), Part II, but do not register for priority admission, and candidates who win second or third prize in a national-level Science and Engineering competition (Social and Behavioral Sciences group and the competition project is assessed by the Admission Council of VNU University of Law as appropriate for the registered major) organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training and meet the admission quality threshold of the training program shall be awarded merit-based points as follows:
- First prize in a national or international Science and Engineering competition organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training: 1.5 points;
- Second prize in a national or international Science and Engineering competition organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training: 1.0 point;
- Third prize in a national or international Science and Engineering competition organized by or participated in under the appointment of the Ministry of Education and Training: 0.5 points.
c) Upper secondary students nationwide whose academic performance for all 3 years of upper secondary education is assessed as Good (academic classification of Good or higher) and who meet one of the following criteria:
- Winning first, second or third prize in VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competitions;
- Winning first, second or third prize in the VNU upper-secondary-level excellent student examination;
- Winning first, second or third prize in the provincial/city-level excellent student examination under the central government.
- Prize-winning subjects include: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, History, Geography, English, and French.
- The content of the prize-winning competition project belongs to the Social and Behavioral Sciences group.
- The prize must have been awarded no more than 03 years prior to the time of admission.
The bonus point scheme for candidates in this category is as follows:
- First prize (VNU upper-secondary-level excellent student competition, VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competition, provincial/city-level excellent student competition under the central government): 1.5 points;
- Second prize (VNU upper-secondary-level excellent student competition, VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competition, provincial/city-level excellent student competition under the central government): 1.0 point;
- Third prize (VNU upper-secondary-level excellent student competition, VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competition, provincial/city-level excellent student competition under the central government): 0.5 points.
Note: For the same prize-winning subject/field, if a candidate has multiple prizes among the types of prizes specified in Sections 3.2.1 and 3.2.2, bonus points (bonus points or merit-based points) shall be awarded only once at the highest level.
3.2.3. Incentive points
a) Candidates holding international English or French certificates at a minimum of Level 4 under the 6-level Foreign Language Competency Framework for Vietnam shall be awarded incentive points as follows:
Level 6 (equivalent to C2): 1.5 points;
Level 5 (equivalent to C1): 1.25 points;
Level 4 (equivalent to B2): 1.0 point.
International English certificates must cover all 4 skills, except the TCF international foreign language certificate (French), which has 3 skills. Online foreign language certificates shall not be accepted.
b) Candidates achieving high results in the SAT (a minimum score of 1300/1600) shall be awarded incentive points as follows:
- From 1500 to 1600: 1.5 points.
- From 1400 to below 1500: 1.25 points;
- From 1300 to below 1400: 1.0 point;
Note:
- In case a candidate has multiple achievements as specified in Section 3.2.3, incentive points shall be awarded only once at the highest level.
- Incentive points under Section 3.2.3. (a) shall not be awarded to candidates who use an international English certificate converted for admission under Method 1 (Combination of the results of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination with an international English certificate for admission).
- In case a candidate has a prize in a foreign language subject (types of prizes specified in Sections 3.2.1 and 3.2.2) and also has an international foreign language certificate corresponding to the prize-winning foreign language, points (bonus points or merit-based points or incentive points) shall be awarded only once at the highest level.
- The total bonus points, including bonus points, merit-based points and incentive points, shall not exceed 3.0 points on a 30-point scale.
- Foreign language certificates and SAT results must remain valid for 2 years from the examination date until the deadline for registration/application submission.
3.3. Application documents for bonus points
- Bonus point registration form (2026-ĐK cộng điểm);
- 01 portrait photo, size 4×6 (taken within approximately 06 months prior to application submission);
- Citizen Identity Card (both sides);
- Academic transcript (all pages) (Applicable only to candidates under category 3.2.2(c));
- Certificates of achievement in examinations/competitions (for candidates under categories 3.2.1 and 3.2.2):
- National or international selection examination for excellent students;
- National or international Science and Engineering competition;
- VNU upper-secondary-level Olympic competition;
- VNU upper-secondary-level excellent student examination;
- Provincial/city-level excellent student examination under the central government.
- Foreign language certificate: IELTS from 5.5 or TOEFL iBT from 72 points (if any, for candidates under category 3.2.3(a));
- SAT score report (if any, for candidates under category 3.2.3(b));
