The name “Faculty of Criminal Justice” dates from September 2022, when VNU University of Law was established from the former School of Law, VNU. Its predecessor, the Department of Criminal Justice, has a longer history tied to the development of the School of Law under the former University of Social Sciences and Humanities and, later, the School of Law under VNU.

The Faculty has 12 full-time lecturers, comprising 1 Professor with a PhD, 5 Associate Professors with PhDs, 5 PhD holders, and 1 lecturer with a Master’s degree who is a PhD candidate. Several of the Faculty’s lecturers are senior scholars who played an important role in building modern Vietnamese criminal legal science. The Faculty also includes lecturers with extensive legal careers, including former leadership positions at the National Assembly, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the Government Office, and the Vietnam Bar Federation. The Faculty has also built a capable younger generation of lecturers and a large network of collaborators, including respected and experienced scholars and practitioners in Vietnam and abroad.
