On the morning of 3 July 2026, as part of the international workshop “A Professional, Modern Criminal Justice System in Vietnam’s New Context,” VNU University of Law held a working session with the Da Nang People’s Court.
The University’s delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh, Rector. On the side of the Da Nang People’s Court, Dr. Nguyen Chi Cong, Chief Justice, hosted and led the session, together with leaders and judges from the city- and district-level People’s Courts of Da Nang. The program was also attended by a number of experts, scholars, leaders of law training institutions, and a representative of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Vietnam.
The session was co-chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh, Rector of VNU University of Law, and Mr. Pham Quoc Bao, Deputy Chief Justice of the Da Nang People’s Court. In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh spoke about the value of closer ties between law training institutions and judicial bodies for improving the quality of legal education and research, connecting theory with practice, and informing institutional reform, contributing to judicial reform and the building of Vietnam’s socialist rule-of-law state.
During the session, leaders of the Da Nang People’s Court gave an overview of the organization and operation of the city’s two-tier People’s Courts, and shared practical experience in handling criminal cases, exercising judicial power, and implementing the Law on the Organization of People’s Courts and the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Judges. Delegates also discussed issues arising from the reform of court organization and operations and the building of a professional, modern criminal justice system to meet the country’s development needs in the new context.
The session not only provided a forum for exchange between scholars and practitioners but also strengthened cooperation between VNU University of Law and the Da Nang People’s Court in training, research, field study and the development of high-quality legal human resources, laying a foundation for further joint activities.
