The UPICC International Arbitration Moot is a prestigious international academic competition organized by the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in collaboration with the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC). Focusing on the resolution of international commercial disputes, the UPICC Moot provides law students with valuable opportunities to develop legal reasoning, legal writing, and English advocacy skills in a professional international arbitration environment.
In 2025, the competition brought together 26 teams from 10 countries and territories, including leading law schools and universities in Asia and around the world, such as:
- Seoul National University & Yonsei University (Republic of Korea)
- China University of Political Science and Law
- Peking University
- Gujarat National Law University (India)
- The University of Hong Kong
as well as many other prestigious universities from across the region and the world.
Among the participating teams, VNU University of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi was honored to be one of only two representatives from Vietnam to compete in the competition. The team demonstrated the confidence, intellectual ability, and professionalism of Vietnamese law students at the oral advocacy rounds held in Shanghai.
The team’s achievement of the “Best Arbitration Practice Award” is a valuable recognition of its academic excellence, legal reasoning, and ability to apply legal knowledge in practice. This achievement is not only a source of pride for the team members but also affirms the quality of education at VNU University of Law and serves as a clear testament to the University’s commitment to international integration and its students’ journey toward the global stage.
Throughout the competition, the University remained closely involved in and supported the team—not only through financial and logistical assistance, but also through continuous encouragement and moral support, enabling the students to devote themselves fully to their preparation and confidently showcase their abilities on the international stage.
