Program Objectives

General Objective

The Application-Oriented Master’s Program in Theory and History of State and Law aims to provide learners with advanced expertise in the theory and history of the state and law, together with comprehensive and in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge to address practical issues concerning the state and law. The program develops professional practice capabilities, skills, and qualities necessary to perform complex specialized tasks and meet the demands of the labor market. It also provides a foundation in legal thinking, knowledge, and skills for learners to pursue independent learning and further professional development.

Specific Objectives

Knowledge

  • Provide foundational knowledge of philosophy and research methodology.
  • Provide in-depth and up-to-date theoretical knowledge of the state and law, including the nature, functions, and forms of the state; the origins, nature, and role of law; legal systems around the world; the rule of law state; civil society; legal culture; and mechanisms of legal regulation.
  • Provide knowledge of the history of the state and law in Vietnam and worldwide, including their formation and development and the characteristics of different types of states and legal systems throughout history.
  • Equip learners with knowledge of legislative techniques, skills in drafting normative legal documents and legal application documents, and knowledge of the organization and operation of the contemporary Vietnamese state apparatus.
  • Develop legal thinking and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to addressing practical issues.

Skills

  • Develop the ability to analyze and evaluate state and legal phenomena in social life.
  • Develop professional practice skills, including legal drafting, legal consultation, and resolving legal situations arising in professional practice.
  • Develop communication, teamwork, leadership, and management skills.
  • Enhance the ability to use foreign languages and information technology in professional activities.
