Program Objectives
General Objective
The Research-Oriented Master’s Program in International Law aims to provide learners with advanced expertise in international law, including comprehensive, modern, and in-depth knowledge of international legal science. The program develops learners’ research capabilities, professional skills, and qualities necessary to perform specialized professional work and meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the labor market. It also provides a foundation in legal thinking, knowledge, and skills for independent learning and research or further study at higher levels.
Specific Objectives
Knowledge
- Provide foundational knowledge of philosophy and legal research methodology.
- Provide modern and in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of public international law, private international law, and international trade law, including the law of treaties, international organizations, international maritime law, international criminal law, international environmental law, international economic law, international trade law, international intellectual property protection, international commercial dispute settlement, and international investment law.
- Provide legal knowledge concerning sovereignty and the protection of Vietnam’s sovereignty over its seas and islands.
- Develop systematic legal thinking, enabling learners to accurately and effectively identify and address legal issues in academic research and professional practice.
Skills
- Develop the ability to independently and creatively conduct research into theoretical and practical issues in international legal science at the national, regional, and international levels.
- Develop the ability to effectively apply international law to legal issues arising in practice and perform professional tasks, as well as provide international legal advice to organizations and individuals.
- Develop skills in participating in the development, improvement, dissemination, and legal education of international law, as well as analyzing and evaluating legal issues concerning national sovereignty in accordance with the policies and orientations of the Party and the State.
Autonomy and Responsibility
- Develop learners into experts in international law capable of undertaking professional positions in government agencies, businesses, international organizations, research institutes, and other relevant institutions.
