On 7 March 2026, VNU University of Law held a ceremony to present retirement decisions to staff who had reached retirement age. The event was an occasion for the University to recognize individuals who had spent many years contributing to its development.
Retirement decisions were presented to:
- Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Dien, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of International Law
- Do Thi Bich Nguyet, MA, Deputy Head of the Training and Student Affairs Office
The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Diep, Secretary of the Party Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tien Viet, Acting Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Vice Rector; along with other staff and lecturers of the University.
In their remarks, University leaders acknowledged the sustained contributions of the two retiring staff members throughout their careers, recognizing not only their length of service but also their academic work, sense of responsibility and dedication to the University.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Dien spoke about a career spanning nearly 47 years, more than 27 of them at VNU University of Law. As one of the University’s earliest full-time lecturers, dating back to its predecessor, the University of Jurisprudence, he described the institution as his “second home.” He spoke of teaching as a profession that carries more than knowledge, one that also shapes the character of students, and thanked past leaders, colleagues and generations of students, whom he described as a source of motivation throughout his career. He said that after retirement, he would remain connected to the University and continue to contribute where he could, and expressed confidence that the University would continue to develop and maintain its position as a leading law training institution in Vietnam.
Do Thi Bich Nguyet spoke about nearly 30 years at the University since 1997, describing the period as spent in training management and administrative work. She said her contributions, though often behind the scenes, had helped support the University’s stability and development, and thanked past leaders, colleagues in the Training Office and staff across the University who had worked alongside her. She said the University would remain a place she thought of fondly after retirement, and expressed confidence that, under its current leadership, the University would continue to grow and maintain its standing in legal education.
The ceremony took place in a warm, formal atmosphere. Flowers and words of appreciation were presented to the two retiring staff members in recognition of their long years of service.
VNU University of Law extends its thanks to both, wishing them good health and happiness, and expressing confidence that they will continue to follow and support the University’s development in the years ahead.
