On 21–22 March 2025, VNU University of Law held a conference in Quang Ninh reviewing training and student affairs work in the context of digital transformation. The conference was attended by University leaders together with staff and employees.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tien Viet, Acting Rector, said digital transformation has become an inevitable trend and a strategic requirement for every country and every field, including higher education. In education, he said, digital transformation is not simply the application of technology but a comprehensive restructuring of the training system, from governance to teaching and learning methods. He noted that, over 2022–2025, factors such as rapid technological change, shifting learner needs and behavior, growing competition in higher education, and quality-assurance policy have directly affected training and student affairs, requiring not only improvements in quality but also changes in the underlying model and methods of delivery.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Head of the Training and Political Affairs, Student Affairs Office, presented “General Report on Training Management in the Context of Digital Transformation,” analyzing data from 2022–2025, the period in which the School of Law was upgraded to VNU University of Law, a member university of VNU. The report reviewed results achieved, identified remaining difficulties, and proposed directions for further developing training and student affairs amid digital transformation. It also covered issues such as innovation in teaching methods, class and academic advising, examinations, and admissions and student-support policy.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Tuan presented “Online Teaching on the LMS Platform in the Context of Digital Transformation: Experience from Teaching the General Course on State and Law at VNU,” discussing difficulties encountered by lecturers and students in online teaching and learning and proposing solutions to improve the organization of the course.
Dr. Can Thi Thanh Huong of the Training and Student Affairs Office presented “Digital Transformation in Vietnamese Universities: Analysis from VNU University of Law’s Practice and Recommendations,” examining the current state of technology systems and data governance and the issues arising in the process of digital transformation.
Dr. Dang Phuong Hai, also of the Training and Student Affairs Office, presented “Examination Work in the Context of Digital Transformation at VNU University of Law,” identifying the need for digital transformation in examination work and offering specific recommendations.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Huyen, Senior Lecturer, presented “Class Management and Academic Advising at VNU University of Law,” examining the current state of class management and academic advising and offering recommendations.
Discussion at the conference focused on directions for developing the training model in the coming period, solutions for improving the effectiveness of digital transformation in training and student services, and developing staff capacity to meet the requirements of reform. Proposals included examining the use of MOOCs (massive open online courses) and developing interdisciplinary degree programs.
In his closing remarks, Acting Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tien Viet said the conference had not only reviewed and analyzed the current state of training work and the difficulties involved, but had also served as a forum for staff and employees to exchange views and propose solutions for improving the quality of training and student affairs in the new context.
